Music plays a very important role in the life of First Baptist Church. Our goal in our music program is to always give glory and honor to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. There are many opportunities to become involved, if you love to sing or play an instrument.
In our worship services, music is incorporated in the form of beloved hymns, solos, contemporary songs and praise choruses, and various instrumental ensembles. In the Sunday Evening Service, everyone who plays a band instrument is encouraged to bring their instrument and play along during the congregational singing.
Everyone has a place in our Music Ministry. All that is required is a love for the Lord, and a desire to use your abilities to worship Him.
Adult Choir: Under the direction of John Bledsoe, we have an active and growing adult choir. Rehearsals are held on Sundays at 5:00 PM. The choir presented "Eyes of Faith" at the special needs prison in Nashville as well as for Easter Worship at First Baptist. Recently the choir sang the National Anthem at the Nashville Sounds Game.
Children’s Choir: Formed within the past few months, the Children’s Choir is for grades 1-6. This enthusiastic and energetic choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 6:30. The Children’s Choir performs an annual Christmas musical, helps to lead worship music in Vacation Bible School, and performs various selections throughout the year.
Preschool Choir: The preschool choir, for ages 4 through Kindergarten, meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 6:30, and is led by Leah Mangrum. This exuberant and excited group is having a great time learning the basics of rhythm and music.
Drama:We use our drama group to perform skits and various short plays to help enhance our worship services.
