KIDS MINISTRY

Our hope is that every child who visits our church will feel known, loved, and safe while learning about Jesus Christ and will one day experience the joy that comes from knowing Him. Our classes and events for our kindergarten - fifth graders are designed with this hope in mind. At First Baptist, we desire to partner with families to influence and teach the Bible and share the gospel of Jesus Christ in a safe, secure, and engaging way.

SUNDAYS

Sunday School meets at 9:15 AM on Sunday mornings and is grouped based upon grade level. Sunday School is a time of teaching the Bible on an age appropriate level with hands-on activities and discussions centered around Scripture. Sunday School begins at 9:15 AM and Childcare is offered during the 8:00 and 10:30 Services. We offer Sunday School because we believe that it is never too early to begin teaching the love of Jesus Christ. We offer Childcare to create an opportunity for parents to learn and connect with peers through groups and worship, while knowing their child is being cared for. We strive to provide a safe, fun, and age-appropriate environment for preschoolers while introducing them to the love of God. It is our desire that each preschooler feels welcome and loved at First Baptist Church.  The nursery and these classrooms are staffed with volunteers coordinated by the Nursery Committee.

Children’s Worship meets during our morning worship service at 10:30 and is offered for kindergarteners thru third grade. Children’s Worship is a time to reinforce the Biblical truths taught in Sunday School with music, teaching, crafts, and life application.

WEDNESDAYS

What is AWANA?

The Word AWANA comes from Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (2 Tim. 2:15). Awana is an incentive-based discipleship program that strongly emphasizes memorizing and understanding scripture. It is fun, engaging, and strengthens not only the child's relationship with the Lord, but the whole family. As Psalms 119:11 says, "I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you." The Bible teaches that studying and memorizing God's Word are the keys to winning the battle against sin. It is my prayer that they discover and store His Word in their hearts to use in their daily walk.

Also, each month we will have a mission emphasizes to teach them about mission and provide opportunities for them to serve their community, nation, and world. "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations..." Matthew 28:19.

Awana's vision and prayer is that all children and youth throughout the world will come to know, love, and serve the Lord.

Every year we have the following free events:

Trunk or Treat: October 28, 2026 - 6 - 8 p.m.

Family Dedication Days held in the Spring and Fall during the 10:30 service.

A Parent/child dedication is a service focused on celebrating the gift of a child and the commitment of a parent. We, the church, are embracing our responsibility to support families by teaching God’s Word, serving one another in love, training up disciples of Jesus, and pointing others to Christ.

A child dedication is not just about the child. It is about the entire family. Standing in a church and celebrating the gift of your child is the first step. But following Christ and seeking His wisdom in the rearing of your child is the journey. A child dedication is, in reality, a parent/child dedication.

As a parent, you are to..

1. Love God and pursue a relationship with Him.

2. Honor God by obeying His Word.

3. You are to teach your child to love and serve God.

4. You are to pray for your child and model Christ in the home.

Christmas Celebration: December 9, 2026 - 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Easter Egg Hunt: March 27th, 2027 - 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Vacation Bible School: June 6-10, 2027 - 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

We also have two paid events: Father/Daughter banquet on February 6th at 5 p.m. and Mom/Son Nerf night on April 17th at 5 p.m.

Also, every summer 2nd-6th grade attends Centri-Kid Summer Camp (June 28-July 2, 2027) for a full week at Campbellsville’s University. You don’t want to miss this!
