MISSIONS

A Church exists through missions as a fire exists through burning. First Baptist is a Great Commission Church. We believe in, pray for, give to, and go serve in missions. Our mission involvement is listed below. Whether local, national, or around the world our members participate. Without apology we present Christ as the answer for our changing times.

Opportunities for mission involvement at First Baptist:

  • Mission Offerings – We give offerings to international missions thru the Lottie Moon Offering of the Southern Baptist Convention and to North American Missions thru the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. Additional mission offerings are given to our Tennessee Baptist Convention.

  • Local Missions – Teams of youth and adults go into the Fairview community to assist the elderly and needy with clean up and renovations to their homes. First Baptist provides Thanksgiving Baskets for the needy, and works with Habitat for Humanity to build houses in our community.

  • Individual Missions –Members of First Baptist volunteer in ministries such as Graceworks, Meals on Wheels delivery and other ministries. FBC encourages and supports our college students who participate in mission trips thru campus ministries.

  • Woman’s Missionary Union

    • Mission Friends is for preschoolers ages birth through kindergarten. They meet on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM. The primary objective of Mission Friends is to provide a strong foundation for preschoolers in a Christian and Missions lifestyle. The classes provide developmentally appropriate missions learning experiences to help preschoolers become aware of God’s love and understand ways they can help others know about this good news!

    • Girls in Action (GAs) is a comprehensive missions education program for girls in grades 1-6. It is offered on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM. Through participation in GA, girls grow in their knowledge, understanding and application of the Bible. They also learn from the example of missionaries and hand-on-mission action what it means to actively engage in ministering to others with the compassion of Christ.

  • Royal Ambassadors (RAs) is Bible centered mission education for boys in grades 1-6. The groups, led by men of the church, meet on Wednesday at 6:30 PM. The RA Motto “We are Ambassadors for Christ” not only gives the organization its name, but also gives the boys and leaders a lifestyle goal. RAs participate in hand-on-mission activities, camping trips and other activities such as line glider and derby car races.
